Every year artists come together to be recognized for their outstanding achievements. This year, the Grammy’s was held on February 2nd, 2025, at 8 PM. Crypto.com holds the awards every year at the Crypto Arena in Los Angeles, California.
Many artists won new awards this year, including Chappell Roan won “Best New Artist”, Beyonce won “Album of the Year” and “Best Country Album” for Cowbody Carter, Kendrick Lamar won “Record of the Year”, “Song of the Year”, and “Best Rap Performance” for “Not Like Us.” While a lot of people agree with these winnings, a big handful disagree with these awards. I personally do not think Beyonce should have won “Best Country Album”. I think Chris Stapelton should have won Best County Album. I love his music.
What does it mean to be an artist in 2024/2025? Chapell Roan answered with, “Big question, this year is about pushing through, I don’t know. The new wave of artists are so focused on making big and bold moves, that the only way to move forward in music is bold. GO BOLDLY.” When asked what it means to win a Grammy, Boy Genius, which is a collection of people, replied with, “It’s so nice, everyone had dreams separate dreams of making music as kids, then finding your people, be doing that is awesome.” When it comes to winning a Grammy it should never define your success.
Miley Cyrus was asked if winning a Grammy is important to her. She replied, “You can buy those you know.” Everyone in the room was surprised that Miley didn’t have a Grammy of her own. While winning a Grammy doesn’t define you as an artist, there is proof that it boosts your standing as an artist. When Adele won a Grammy in 2017, the sales for the most recent album at the time “25” went up 137%.
A Grammy is the biggest award you can get in the music industry. You are recognized by your peers and other highly talented artists. It isn’t just one award, The Grammy’s are awards across multiple genres. This can include: Best Country Album, Best Rap Song, Best Rap Album, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Best RB&B, and many more.
The Grammy’s have a rich history. The first Grammy’s ever held was on May 4th, 1959. While the first awards were given out in 1958, a year later they decided to hold a ceremony. The first person to receive a Grammy award was Domenico Modugno. He won both Song of the Year and Record of the Year for his song “Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu (Volare)”. The Album of the Year was first won by Henry Mancini for “The Music from Peter Gunn”. There is so much history behind The Grammy’s, that is important apart from the recent ceremonies. Do you know where the name “Grammy” originally came from? The Grammy’s got its name from a music-listening device invented by Thomas Edison. It was called the Gramophone which is used as the gold-plated trophy presented to artists, today.
