Craig Ash, BHS’s own chef, is exploring new ways to improve school lunches by giving students more say in what they eat. Craig Ash’s plans to make this change by involving students in menu changes and talking about student choice in lunch in Tiger Ten.
Craig Ash had also said that it was important that he got student feedback on what they like to eat because then he can better prepare a lunch menu full of food that students would enjoy eating. This all plans to occur in BHS located in the cafeteria although there is no specific date for when this change will take place, it was said that taking this step by step is the way to go for now.
Craig Ash stated, “There has already been a plan to make a change,” showing that he has had this plan for a while. So, what makes this plan so important to him as well as I got to sit and talk with Craig Ash he had told me that he is working on really opening up to students about this change in student choice in lunch and getting their opinions under state guidelines. He also claims he plans on, “Improving and changing that way I am making sure kids eat.”
With this, it gives students a chance to eat their favorite foods without choosing not to eat. It’s important that all students receive the food they need to get through the rest of the school day.
Craig Ash has been revitalizing food here at BHS with full staff. He makes and writes the school lunch menus.
Each year Craig Ash said he must follow state guidelines as stated before, but still looks for new ways to make lunches better each year based on food that students seem to eat the most. Interacting with the student body is something important to Craig, as it makes it easier to create the student lunch menu.
Craig Ash can see exactly the types of food student’s menu ideas and listening to feedback is important. Craig Ash hopes to create a lunch experience that students truly enjoy.
