You know TikTok is back for good right? Yeah, it’s weird because the TikTok ban took the internet by storm, some folks believing TikTok was going to get banned for good and others thinking it’s just a bluff. I will be honest, I was one of them to think TikTok was going away for good, a part of me was happy and another part was mad. I felt conflicted. I felt like for me TikTok was a big distraction but deleting it from my phone wasn’t good enough, I wanted the app completely gone from everyone’s phone. Yes, I’m a hater. The whole situation was very weird and controversial.
Some claiming TikTok is a platform for many to express and be themselves, claiming TikTok did no wrong but of course others thought that TikTok being a Chinese app run in America is not okay because they use and maybe even steal our personal data but doesn’t everyone do that? In addition, the app was “banned” January 19th, but the funny thing is it was only banned for not even 24 hours. The next day people were claiming the app was working again, for some folks the app never stopped working. Me being me, I deleted the app the moment it stopped working, I felt like I didn’t need it anymore. The next day realizing the app worked again, I went through the five stages of grief. The first being denial, making myself believe that i didn’t need the app and that instead the app needed me. The second stage was anger, not being able to look things up and get the results I wanted angered me. The third stage was bargaining, trying to figure out ways to get the app back. The fourth stage was depression, after some days without the app made me feel some type of way. The last and final stage was acceptance, at the end of the day there was no getting the app back, I had to take my L and move on. Although, I did discover a way to get the app back through a virtual private network or VPN which is what I used. The app is now back on the Apple store though. “I never deleted the app, I always believed in my baby TikTok, I knew it would come through,” Junior Kendell Cox in a recent interview. In the end, TikTok is back and is working. I learned my lesson not to move off my emotions anymore, always let things play out.
