Currently 8-0, the Tigers have tough competition against Howell and Detroit Catholic Central in the next few weeks and continue what is called their “Revenge Tour”.
The Tigers have spent this past season working hard and getting stronger. Last year, on Sunday, November 26th, the Belleville Tigers played Southfield A&T. When the game started, the stands were filled, and everyone was buzzing with excitement. People were ready for the so-called “Three-Peat”. The remainder of the fourth quarter was when all the excitement started to drain and people started to leave the stands. The score was 32-36 when the clock buzzed. Everyone went silent. The following day the hallways at school were somber and the upset in the air was palpable.
This season, the team is focusing on “discipline, integrity, and dominance against the other teams,” many players stated. Instead of just winning, they want to be the clear dominant team. Additionally, Tigers are focusing on is their discipline when it comes to even and accessible games. They want to play their game no matter who they play and not get too cocky when it comes to games, but they still seek to earn the coveted title as state champions.
When asked about the title they have for the current season called, “The Revenge Tour”, David Chudzinski, the kicking coach stated, “I’m on the fence with the “Revenge Tour” title. The only team we need to seek revenge on is Southfield A&T and we won’t see them this year as the third record shows they won’t even make playoffs at 1-6. We can use it as motivation to prove we are the top-tier team in the country.”
While they are not playing Southfield this season, they will still have some tough competition that they will have to stay focused and disciplined. Additionally, David Chudzinski added, “This year the team is focusing on all of the little details and working towards perfection. Whether it’s their grades in the classroom or holding their blocks to ensure a successful play. The great teams get all the details right to ensure perfection.”
The Tiger’s biggest game will be held on November 30th, at 7 pm. The game will be at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan. The players think Detroit Catholic Central will be their biggest competition.
