Lebron James and Bronny James are the first father-and-son duo in the NBA.
This is important because there have been fathers who have had kids both play in the league but not at the same time. Everyone thought it would never be done from the 1946-1947 season to now. It was too hard, and the age difference would always be too large for this ever to happen. This comes with Lebron being in his 21st season and Bronny in his first. He only played one year in college before declaring for the NBA draft. This is also rare because most players aren’t one-and-done; it takes multiple years to develop in college before they go into the draft. He was selected for the second round with the 55th pick in the draft.
By this time most players have already retired from all the stress and strenuous amounts of work put on the body. It takes a lot to keep going in the league, which is why most professional athletes don’t have long careers. The constant stress on the body can leave athletes with lifelong pain and injuries. Lebron is at the age of 39 and is close to retiring. He stated, “I waited for retirement because I have always dreamed of playing with one of my sons.” He has said he thought about retiring for the last couple of years but has held out for this one moment. In the end, we might not ever see this happen again, but if it does it won’t be for a long time.
