Through the years Belleville has changed in many ways, including what is in style, the slang of the school, and the look, Belleville hasn’t always looked like this and it was recently renovated in August of 2012. But some parts of that old school still remain to this day, like the bathroom behind the auditorium stage from the old days. This bathroom despite its dingy and yellowed-looking appearance is a piece of history. So is the whole auditorium. Before the school was renovated, the parking lot that sits in front of the athletic hallway, and front offices, was right in front of the auditorium. One of the only remaining original elements still left from the old school is the Belleville Auditorium. A timeless staple of the high school. Its brick walls stick above the white buildings that were built around it. It’s very noticeable from outside of the school considering most of the new building is built in white or very neutral colors, with this giant pop of brownish red in the middle. Besides those parts of the school being untouched, the band area is also still semi- the same just heavily renovated, and the back of the cafeteria.
The halls of the old school were worn down which is very obvious from the boards on the window, the ripped-up tiles, and the dirt that lined every crevice. Belleville was a sore sight which is why it needed these renovations so very badly. But even before all of that, this is still not the original Belleville High School, because before that we had the 1964 Belleville High School which was very small compared to what we have today.
To close, Belleville has grown a lot over the years and has changed many times, we should all be grateful for what we have today, a new modernized school that accommodates all of our needs.
