Michigan and Ohio State are considered the biggest rivalry in college football. Since their first meeting on October 16th, 1897 it has always been the most watched and most anticipated match-up of each regular season. This game takes place as the last conference game of the season. The teams have met a total of one hundred and twenty times, Michigan is winning the rivalry with sixty-two wins and Ohio State has fifty-One wins and it’s been even with six ties. At the beginning of the rivalry, there was an average of 6 to 8 thousand fans. The first time there were one hundred thousand fans that came to the game was in 1957. This didn’t happen again until 1969 but now this is a regular thing to happen. This is why it is considered the biggest rivalry in college football. This year Michigan took on Ohio State and Ohio State was a 19.5-point favorite. With Michigan only being a 6-5 team and Ohio State being an 11-1 team it looked like it was going to be a blowout. The game was in Columbus which made winning for Michigan an even harder thing. It was very close during the game and came down to the wire. In the last dying seconds of the game, Michigan’s kicker made a short field goal to put them up. The final score was 13-10 and made Michigan undefeated against Ohio State for the last 4 seasons. With this being said Ohio State’s coach Ryan Day has a record of 4-1 against Michigan in the last 5 years. Most fans want the coach fired because he can’t win against Michigan. With his overall record against other Big Ten schools being 47-1, the fan base of Ohio can’t stand this. In interviews with players, and fans, everyone has said they don’t care about beating any besides Michigan and the coach right now can’t seem to get that done.

Hi, I'm Brayden Lane, a senior here at Belleville High School. When I am not in school I am kicking for the football team or playing soccer. I also am always hanging out with my friends and family. I love playing sports because it gives me a chance to block everything out around me and just focus on playing what I love. I am also a part of the leadership team and a part of NHS as well.
