There are multiple award events throughout the year, like the Oscars, Golden Globe Awards, Grammys, Tony Awards, and more. Did you know there’s one specifically dedicated to women in the music industry?

The honorees were Doechii, Aespa, ANNA, Charlotte Cardin, GloRilla, Gracie Abrams, JENNIE, Erykah Badu, Meghan Trainor, Muni Long, Tyla, Tina Knowles, Megan Moroney, Gracie Abrams, and Angela Aguilar. Not only were awards given, but there were also some big performances. Importance
The Billboard Women in Music started back in 2007. It’s an event that has happened basically every year except in 2021. It recognizes women in the music industry, small/big artists, and all who are making some type of impact on their listeners and the world. This event isn’t only for big artists but also brings light to women who have overlooked roles like songwriters, composers, managers, moms, and producers.
Woman of the Year Award
This award represents women who’ve been rising, have success, and have an impact on business. According to Billboard.com, a woman named Reba McEntire was the first person to receive this award. “Reba McEntire, who became the first recipient in 2007, went on to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and receive the Kennedy Center Honors”. This year’s recipient was Doechii, 26, born in Tampa, Florida, who’s also won the Rising Star award in 2023. This young artist’s creativity and uniqueness are what’s making her get far in the industry and inspiring others.
