Call of Duty was once one of the most popular game series in the world. From being the most discussed topic to barely averaging 75,000 concurrent players, Black Ops 7 is now considered the worst Call of Duty by the majority of its fans. However, some fans oppose this opinion, claiming otherwise.
Activision released Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 on November 14, 2025. The game is a sequel to the popular series “Black Ops,” which started on November 9, 2010. However, this version received widespread negativity from the outset. Many players suspected the game to be a carbon copy of Black Ops 6.5 just from watching the trailer, which received many dislikes.
Despite the negative reviews, lots of players are also praising the current state of the game, claiming that the game provides great performance rates and a decent multiplayer mode. However, the campaign mode is one of the primary reasons people buy the game, since it provides a cinematic experience that helps deliver excitement within the game. Players are criticizing the mode, stating that there were a lot of confusing factors that struggled to keep them engaged.
For example, the multiple boss fights were unusual compared to the past versions of the game. Additionally, the fact that you couldn’t pause it because they made it a co-op mode instead of keeping it a single player mode. BO7 has not been up to standard since its initial release. The game only peaked at 87,000 during its launch compared to BO6, which peaked at 315,000. It is also averaging below 70,000, which is significantly lower than BO6 around the same time.
Ultimately, if I were to rate the game, I would give it a 4/10. The game was not very successful, and the campaign ruined the experience. I would give applause to the multiplayer as it feels smooth and fun to play. I feel like the game would be enjoyed more by casual players since they are more likely to play multiplayer from time to time.
