The Grammy’s are typically a big deal in the music industry. When an artist gets nominated for one it’s considered an “I made it” moment, and emphasizes success.
The Grammy’s take place once a year in big cities like Los Angeles, New York, or Chicago. The event usually takes place in February to celebrate all the music made throughout the year prior. Many people who love music tune in to watch the show; for example, last year’s show had 15.4 million views on CBS. The show is presented by the recording academy, who also vote beforehand on who receives an award from each category.
There are many awards up for grabs, and in categories like song of the year, best new artist, album of the year, etc. There are a lot of prominent artists nominated this year like Sabrina Carpenter, Tyler The Creator, Lady GaGa, Justin Bieber, etc.
Based on streams and other successes of artists this year, the three artists with the highest chances of winning album of the year are Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, and Bad Bunny.
Bad Bunny recently took #1 artist in the world for the fourth on Spotify with 80 million monthly listeners. He was also chosen to perform at the 2026 Superbowl which has brought him as an artist, and Latin music to have more prominence recently.
Kendrick Lamar is in the top 20 artists in the world with 100 million listeners, which eventually increased after his Superbowl performance earlier this year. In the last year it has been clear from other students, as well as other music listeners that Kendrick Lamar is very popular and has made an impact on people’s music taste. Then we have Lady Gaga with 123.7 million monthly listeners and her new album “MAYHEM” is #6 in the world on Spotify.
These artists have made a huge impactsthis past year, so there is potential that one of them takes home album of the year. What are your predictions for this upcoming award show?
