With emotions and tensions high, the Unified Tigers fought to compete to the best of their ability in their last two home games. On February 24th, an emotional ending at Belleville High School concluded their Senior Night at 4:00 pm against Franklin, including an intense matchup against Sterling Heights at Little Caesars Arena on February 25th at 12:00 pm.
These intense games provided an emotional roller coaster for the Unified Tigers as they determined whether the Tigers would come in the top 3 in the season ranking. Senior night helped the team achieve this goal, as they blew their opponent out 75-48. Families and friends showed up to support and congratulate the seniors of the Unified Basketball and Unified Cheer teams for their hard work. Next, the team visited Little Caesars Area and competed in a very profound game. Although it was a close game by halftime, Sterling Heights took the game in the last 5-6 minutes remaining. This loss didn’t bring the Tigers’ spirit down as they all had a great time playing at LCA. They were also excited because the loss only brought their overall record to 5-2 for the season, putting them in second place in the rankings. Notable players on the season include Aaron Horton ‘28, Rodrick Jones ‘27, Logan Wade ‘26, and Jeffery Graves ‘26.
In speaking with Coach Sprague, she stated, “I am proud of our team and how they continue to support each other through the matches. Allowing this program to continue has been a great opportunity for students to grow and have connections with each other.” She also stated, “The competitive spirit allowed the students to have fun while trying their best.”
The Unified Tigers’ last match is on March 5th, 2026. They will compete in a crossover game with another school in the Unified League that is placed in the top two. They hope to receive lots of support from families and friends as they try their hardest to close out strong. As you see the Tigers, make sure to congratulate them for their amazing season and hard work.
