Beginning in fall 2026, eligible students at Belleville High School will be able to take college-level courses through a partnership with Washtenaw Community College. By the time they graduate from college these students can earn both their diploma and their associates degree at no cost.
This program is run by Ms. Sprague and it is designed to help students save money on college tuition while gaining valuable experience in a college environment. Students enrolled in Early College take classes that give them college credit which gives them a smoother transition from high school to college.
This program is especially beneficial for students who want to explore college expectations early or reduce the time and cost required to earn a degree after high school. Earning an associates degree for free and stated by Sprague, “Earning 60 college credits which is a year ahead for free”. This also gives students more flexibility when transferring into a four-year university or entering the workforce.
The Early College Program reflects a growing effort to make higher education more accessible and affordable for students. By offering college credits and degrees at no cost, Sprague is helping students prepare for their future while easing the financial burden many families face when planning for college.
