Our Bellevillain Tigers Bowling team stirred up a heated match with Wayne Memorial High School on Tuesday, January 27th. This match entailed having the bowling state champion on the opposing team, keeping pressure on in the game.
A senior third-year varsity bowler, Braylon Watts, made the crowd roar when he scored his first 300. This has been the first 300 scored on the Belleville Tigers since 2022. Braylon Watts has previously scored a 297 at tryouts, cutting it close to his new personal record.
“I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness before going up to score my 300,” claims Braylon Watts.
The warmups to any sport are essential for a smooth game. Watts starts the game with 15-minute warmups and stretches. This includes stretching the hips and arms for 5 minutes, ensuring no cramps. Watts and the team then continue to throw the bowling ball down the lane warming up their technique and arms.
During this bowling match, Watts had to go up against the current bowling state champion personally, whom he beat in both games. He has plans to continue to bowl in college; he is currently in contact with multiple coaches, keeping his options open.
