Belleville High School welcomed middle school students and their families during its annual Tiger Night on March 3 in the auxiliary gym. The event gave incoming students a chance to explore what high school life will be like and learn about the many opportunities that will be available to them.
During the school day, eighth graders from McBride Middle School visited Belleville High School for the Moving On Up portion of the event. Students toured the school with current high schoolers to show them the ropes and later gathered in the small gym to see different clubs, extracurricular activities, sports teams, and academic programs offered at the high school.
In the evening, Tiger Night continued with booths set up by current high school students who participate in clubs, sports, and other activities. These students shared information about their programs and answered questions from middle schoolers and their families.
The event helps future students get a better understanding of what to expect in high school while encouraging them to get involved in activities and clubs that will excite them.
Research also shows that students who participate in extracurricular activities often experience higher academic achievement, improved attendance, and stronger social skills. Tiger Night highlighted these opportunities and helped students feel more prepared and confident about starting high school.
