SPOILER ALERT
Have you seen the new Venom movie? I hated it—plain and simple. Released on October 25th, 2024, this movie follows the production of Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Standing at one hour and forty-nine minutes, Venom: The Last Dance is all about more aliens coming for Venom.
Eddie died in Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Venom brought him back to life. When he did this, a codex (something connecting their brains) was created between them. When the aliens were looking for Eddie, he roamed around the desert and was dropped off in Vegas by a bus of hippies he met. When Venom came out, that is when the aliens could sense him in Vegas. Eddie ended up getting taken by the military and taken to Area 51. Area 51 is the United States Air Force Base in Nevada. These aliens could sense the codex and needed to get rid of it, meaning one of them had to die. Tom Hardy, the actor who plays Eddie Brock/Venom, stated that this would be the last Venom movie and that he was done playing that character. This is important and adds to the story because it shows the end of Venom. Since this is the last movie, is it just a money grab?
According to the box office, “Venom: The Last Dance has brought in 394.2 million dollars.” Kenzie Simpson was asked, “What was your opinion on the new Venom movie?” She replied, “My opinion was the first two movies were much better, on the other hand, this Venom movie felt a bit predictable but overall was decent.”
While she did like the movie, she felt it was predictable, and the characters seemed over the production. According to Rotten Tomatoes, “they rated this movie forty-one percent.” Which in the movie world is very low. There are many reviews on Rotten Tomatoes describing the movie as “boring, worst monologue ever, unsatisfying, forced, but it did have potential.”
On the other hand, while I do agree with the reviews, Venom had amazing action shots. The way they capture the action throughout the movie is captivating. I would rate this movie 2.7 stars.
